If a day ever...

Good afternoon! Over at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge they are having a sketch challenge using this sketch:

And since I love working with sketches I decided to give it a whirl. This is my take on the sketch:

I turned the sketch 90 degrees. Products used for this layout are: Prima "Almanac" range, Martha Stewart "Dbl. Loop" punch, Tim Holtz word plates, Kaisercraft rub ons, Cheese cloth, and lace. The butterflies are from Kay's Kreative Korner etsy shop.

Sorry for the shadows, the lighting just wouldn't cooperate. Thanks for looking and your comments.

Cherish *LGS challenge #25

Hey there! I decided to try entering another sketch challenge. I love working with sketches and Let's get sketchy has a current sketch challenge using this sketch:

And here was my take on the sketch:

I tried to stick as close to the sketch as possible. For this layout I used a lot of my old stash from Glitz "Graced with Lace" as well as "French Kiss". I even have a sheet of Prima's "Moulin Rouge". On the corrugated board I mixed some molding paste with a touch of coral acrylic paint,  and dabbed here and there. On the butterfly, I used a Dusty Attic chippie that I painted with Ranger's onyx opal liquid pearls. For the coral flowers I sprayed them lightly first with Tattered Angels' Coral reef, then with Tattered Angels' Pumpkin spice. I did the same procedure with the Dusty Attic "Cherish" for my title. Here are a couple of close ups:

Let's Get Sketchy DT call

There is currently a DT call going on at Let's Get Sketchy. The DT call is running for one week; you have until Saturday the 26th to answer the call if you're interested. The DT term will run from Sept. 1st thru Mar.1st with your first layout due Monday Sept. 3rd. It sounds like a really fun opportunity for two lucky people.
Here is the sketch they provided for the call:

For my layout I turned the sketch 180 and used a chipboard frame inplace of the second photo.

I muted the colors of the patterned papers with some gesso and tattered angels spray mists. I did a little masking with the gesso as well, then sponged  the tattered angels over it to help it blend into the layout somewhat. TFLLet's Get Sketchy

Our Jinx...

Over on the Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge they are running a scrap your pet challenge for the month of August. Since I haven't done a "pet page" in a long while I decided to get it a try. I chose to do a layout of one of our rescue kitties, Jinx. She came to join our family all the way from northern Illinois when four years ago I got a call from my Aunt asking if she could give Makara a kitten for her birthday. My Aunt had a friend that needed to find this kitten a home, otherwise her husband said he'd "get rid" of it. I'm so glad we were able to save her, she's one of the best cats (maybe a little bias there) and we love her. Anyway, this is the layout I did for the challenge:

and a close up...

A few distressed layers, a little misting, and some stamping. Also hand stitching and a little punch work. I had a lot of fun making it. Thanks so much for looking and your comments.

Eleven

Over on Frosted Designs blog they have "Sketch Along Tuesdays" where they have a sketch challenge. They actually have hree different challenges running each month. This month their sketch #47 caught my eye. Here's what it looks like...

And this is what I came up with...

This is what popped in my head when I looked at the sketch. I tried to stick as close to the sketch as possible, but I went a little flower crazy maybe... I hope you can still see enough of the sketch for it to qualify. Keeping my fingers crossed.
For this layout I used Carta Bella papers, Dusty Attic dress form chippie, and quite a few flowers (mostly by Petaloo), doilies, lace, and a couple of my MS punches.

Life Is Good...

After staring at it, walking away, coming back to stare a little more I believe that my layout is ready to submit. I couldn't find anything I forgot to do or add to my layout (which does happen to me sometimes), and I do have the necessary "twine/floss" on there. Since it's an outdoorsy kind of layout I decided that using some of my burlap twine would go with the theme I needed. I hope it qualifies. So here is my entry for the challenge over at Scrap Your Crap, using twine/floss on your project...

Thanks so much for stopping by! I appreciate it and any comments you leave!
