Lest we forget

Good morning! It's hard to believe this is the last Monday of the year already. Since it's also the fifth Monday in December the challenge this week at Let's Get Sketchy doesn't involve a sketch. Instead the challenge is to grab a photo or photos that aren't so great- the ones you normally wouldn't scrapbook-and do a layout with them. Before digital cameras we all had plenty of them. This is what I came up with...
I used my December kit from the Flying Unicorn. I just love their kits, so full of yummy goodies. And some close-ups to walk you around the page...
I distressed my background, then inked it and gave it some random punching. Then I adhered it to the piece of corkboard that came in the kit. I plan to hang this in my scraproom next to my other cork board panels. Anyways, then I used a Crafter's workshop tile mask and gesso on the background, inking it when dry to highlight the texture. I also used postage stamps here and there on the background. I put my journaling on strips because sometimes my handwriting looks terrible.

You can see the cork peeking through my distressed punch work. I used cheescloth in my clusters for a little softness. And added seed beads in random groups to the backround for just a bit more texture and color.

So grab your not so perfect photos and have some creative fun. And feel free to use a sketch to give you starting point. This is the wonderful sketch I used designed by Michele Singh.
I look forward to seeing you link up your creation with us at LGS! Hope everyone has a remarkable New Year! Thanks so much for stopping by and your comments!

In the Colorful Creations spotlight

Very Merry Christmas eve, everyone! I don't toot my own horn very often, my husband bless his bias heart says I'm too modest. Anyhoo, I'm being featured in the spotlight at Colorful Creations this week. What a great Christmas gift right? I'm honored and tickled at the same time. This is the sketch designed by Jenessa Franco that they sent me to created from...
And here is my layout...
For this layout I've dug deep into my stash once again and used Basic Grey's "Dasher" collection.
I distressed and used two different Martha Stewart border punched for my layers. The gold lace is from Bo Bunny and the dimensional stickers are K&Co.

The chipboard title is from Want2Scrap. I sprayed it with Tattered Angels "Red Velvet", gave it a light coat of clear embossing powder, then a random swipe of my finger with Stickles "Xmas Red".

The poinsettias are Petaloo. The leaves are Recollections, I think. The berries and other greenery are from sprays that I bought at Michaels that I cut apart.

Thanks for coming by and taking a peek at my layout! I truly appreciate your time and comments! And I want to wish everyone a very blessed Christmas!

It's Christmas Eve!

Firstly, I'd like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas! I have just a couple last minute gifts to get wrapped and then I'll be ready. In the meantime it's another great reveal at Let's Get Sketchy. This is the new fabulous sketch for this week...
Using the sketch I created a Christmas layout...
Once again, I'm trying to use up some of my older stash. For this layout I used the "Figgy Pudding" collection by Basic Grey. The ribbons and gold lace are from my stash. The poinsettias are Petaloo. I used two different Martha Stewart border punches on my layers, then inked the layers with Memento "Rhubarb Stalk" ink. I really love the rich dark red color.

I sprayed the doilies with Tattered Angels "Dazzling Diamonds", they really sparkle IRL.
Thanks so much for taking the time to stop in and allowing me to share with you. For more inspiration head over to LGS and see the beautiful layouts the rest of the DT created. Have a wonderul Christmas Eve!

Christmas Cutie

Hello! Today I have a layout that I've done based off the Creative Scrappers #237 sketch and combined it with Frosted Designs 12 days of Christmas challenge day 5 which required you to use 5 gold things on your project. Here is the sketch:
And my layout:
I found these photos of Makara when she was just three years old. She went through a phase where if you told her to smile she'd start making funny faces instead- very hard to get good photos. For this layout I used some of the Basic Grey "Wassail" collection. Slowly I'm using up all my older stash. On the background I used molding paste and a mask, then applied glitter while it was still wet.

For my 5 gold things I've used: gold bells, gold berries, gold liquid pearls, gold ink, and a gold sticker in the upper left corner.

For the Christmas chipboard I used "Red Velvet" Tattered Angels', then heat embossed them. Then to dress them up a little more I swiped them using "Ruby Slippers" Stickles with my finger.

Thanks for coming by and allowing me to share with you. Hope you have a great day!

With You, I can soar

Hello, everyone! This evening I'd like to share a layout that I've done using the current sketch at A2Z Scraplets. Here's the sketch:
And this is my layout:

Instead of the banner across the top I cut out hot air balloons from an overlay.
I used four sheets of the Huntington Garden Collection by Ridderholmdesign. I'm also entering it in Frosted Designs Day 4 of the 12 twelve days of Christmas; the requirement is to use 4 different papers.
I applied a rough coating of gesso to my chipboard, then used three different inks to give it a mottled kind of look. The bricks I made by cutting brick shapes from a piece of chipboard, painted with gesso, then inked the edges lightly.

I stamped on the background with gesso and a stamp that reminded me of the chipboard for a subtle texture.

Thanks so much for coming by! I really appreciate your time and comments! Hope you have a wonderful evening!

Country roads, take me home

TGIF my friends! The last three days have been rainy and overcast so I'm really happy to finally see some sun shining through this morning. Today I'd like to share a page that I've done based off the fabulous Sketchabilities #80 sketch. Here's the sketch:
And this the page I created using Authentique "Peaceful" collection:
Lots of layers on this page that I've punched and distressed. I thought it would be perfect for The Studio Challenges which happens to be layers this month. I have some close-ups to share...
The Scrap FX chipboard birds on a wire I inked with metallic copper. They really sparkle IRL and I'm glad that I was able to incorporate this piece into my page so that I can enter in Frosted Designs 12 Days of Christmas. Day 1 is to use a bird on your creation. I adhered it with pop dots for more dimension.

I applied a little gesso to the birdhouse with my fingertip.
I really enjoyed putting this page together and I hope you've enjoyed it as well. Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a fantastic weekend everyone!
