Lest we forget

Good morning! It's hard to believe this is the last Monday of the year already. Since it's also the fifth Monday in December the challenge this week at Let's Get Sketchy doesn't involve a sketch. Instead the challenge is to grab a photo or photos that aren't so great- the ones you normally wouldn't scrapbook-and do a layout with them. Before digital cameras we all had plenty of them. This is what I came up with...
I used my December kit from the Flying Unicorn. I just love their kits, so full of yummy goodies. And some close-ups to walk you around the page...
I distressed my background, then inked it and gave it some random punching. Then I adhered it to the piece of corkboard that came in the kit. I plan to hang this in my scraproom next to my other cork board panels. Anyways, then I used a Crafter's workshop tile mask and gesso on the background, inking it when dry to highlight the texture. I also used postage stamps here and there on the background. I put my journaling on strips because sometimes my handwriting looks terrible.

You can see the cork peeking through my distressed punch work. I used cheescloth in my clusters for a little softness. And added seed beads in random groups to the backround for just a bit more texture and color.

So grab your not so perfect photos and have some creative fun. And feel free to use a sketch to give you starting point. This is the wonderful sketch I used designed by Michele Singh.
I look forward to seeing you link up your creation with us at LGS! Hope everyone has a remarkable New Year! Thanks so much for stopping by and your comments!

In the Colorful Creations spotlight

Very Merry Christmas eve, everyone! I don't toot my own horn very often, my husband bless his bias heart says I'm too modest. Anyhoo, I'm being featured in the spotlight at Colorful Creations this week. What a great Christmas gift right? I'm honored and tickled at the same time. This is the sketch designed by Jenessa Franco that they sent me to created from...
And here is my layout...
For this layout I've dug deep into my stash once again and used Basic Grey's "Dasher" collection.
I distressed and used two different Martha Stewart border punched for my layers. The gold lace is from Bo Bunny and the dimensional stickers are K&Co.

The chipboard title is from Want2Scrap. I sprayed it with Tattered Angels "Red Velvet", gave it a light coat of clear embossing powder, then a random swipe of my finger with Stickles "Xmas Red".

The poinsettias are Petaloo. The leaves are Recollections, I think. The berries and other greenery are from sprays that I bought at Michaels that I cut apart.

Thanks for coming by and taking a peek at my layout! I truly appreciate your time and comments! And I want to wish everyone a very blessed Christmas!
